What is the difference between a Canadair and a Canadair Sabre?
Canadairs are military water bombers without landing gear. They are amphibious aircraft that can land in the water as well as on an airfield. The Canadair is a twin-engine aircraft and can measure 19.82 m in length and 28.60 m in wingspan. This model of aircraft flies low over the water at 110 km/h over a distance of 1.5 km to fill its tanks. In fact, it has two tanks that allow it to absorb an average of 6000 liters of water generally used for extinguishing forest fires. The new CL415 model is the successor of the CL215. It benefits from a new airframe and a reinforced structure with a 4-door bombing system instead of the original two-door system. The aircraft was later renamed Bombardier 415, a few years after Bombardier acquired Canadair in 1986.
While the Canadair Sabre was one of the legendary fighter aircraft used by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Cold War. The North American F-86 Sabre was one of the first jet fighter aircraft with swept wings built after World War II.
