What is the purpose of the MIG-21 FISHBED?
The MiG-21, also known as the Mikoyan-Gurevich, is a Russian Soviet fighter aircraft, also known by the NATO code Fishbed. It is a supersonic fighter with more than 14,000 units built since the 1960s. It is the 5th most used fighter aircraft in the world in 2012. Its performance and agility are well known, however, the MIG-21 is equipped with electronic aids for combat and navigation. Despite its weaknesses, it is very popular, as its relatively low cost has allowed many air forces to have their first supersonic fighter.
Which version of the MIG should I choose?
The MIG-21 PFM series may be the one for you. This model introduces an improved KM-1 ejection seat and a new canopy that opens from the side, rather than from the front like other models. It also features a GP-9 gun pod carrier that holds a GSh-23 gun with 250 rounds.
The MODEL SET MIG-21 F-13 FISHBED C is equipped with two K-13 infrared guided air-to-air missiles. This new missile was in fact a copy of the American AIM-9B Sidewinder, one of which had been captured by a Chinese fighter in which it had been stuck without exploding.
