What is the LOCKHEED F-117 NIGHTHAWK? 

The Lockheed-Martin F-117 Nighthawk is a ground attack aircraft designed by the United States and put into service in 1983. It is the world's first military aircraft designed from the outset to have the lowest possible remote sensing signature. It was withdrawn from service in April 2008 and will be permanently retired in 2018.
The secrecy around this aircraft, which was only officially recognized in 1988, has created UFO discussions because of its peculiar triangular shape.
No variant of the F-117 has been built, but several projects have been considered, namely :
The F-117 A equipped with new F-414 engines and more powerful of 35% compared to the old models
The F-117 B which was longer, with an improved approach speed, and a strong armament carrying capacity. It could fire the AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missile.
The F-117 N/AF-117X which could be operated from a carrier. Its main features were a reinforced structure and retractable wingtips to save more space.
