The Blackburn Skua is one of the first two-seater monoplane built in the late 1930s by the Fleet Air Arm (Royal Navy). Its functions were those of a fighter and dive bomber. It took part in the first battles of the Second World War.
The first prototype of the Blackburn B-24 (K5178) had its first flight in February 1937 and the second (K5179) on May 4, 1938. This second prototype was designed with raised wingtips and an extended nose. These two features were adopted for the 190 product aircraft, all of which were designated as the Blackburn Skua II.
