Heir to the Austrian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated on 28 June 1914 in Sarajevo. This event triggered the First World War. The author is Gavrilo  Princip, a member of the Black Hand Society.

This society was the result of a Serbian nationalist movement charged with regrouping Serbia as well as other Slavic states included in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The origin of the Second World War is the diktat imposed by the Treaty of Versailles.
