What is the purpose of the BOEING 787?

The Boeing 787, also known by its nickname Dreamliner, is a long-haul aircraft produced since 2009 by the Boeing Company. Officially launched on April 26, 2004 for an entry into service in May 2008, it made its first flight on December 15, 2009 and was certified on August 26, 2011. The first delivery of the Boeing 787-8, to All Nippon Airways (ANA), took place on September 26, 2011.
The aircraft carries between 210 and 330 passengers depending on the version and configuration, and is also more fuel-efficient than previous models: according to Boeing's initial specifications, it consumes 20% less fuel than an Airbus A330 or a Boeing 777. As of December 2019, ANA has the largest number of Boeing 787s in its fleet, with a total of 71 aircraft.
