What is the WESTLAND WYVERN?

The Westland Wyvern is a British post-war turboprop attack aircraft. Production Wyverns were powered by a turboprop engine driving large, distinctive counter-rotating propellers, and could carry aerial torpedoes. 
The Wyvern was named after a mythological monster, known in French as Vouivre. Its first flight was on December 12, 1946. It was then equipped with a Rolls-Royce Eagle which was replaced by an Armstrong Siddeley Python turboprop. It entered service in 1953 and was retired from Fleet Air Arm service in 1958.
