What is the purpose of the North American P-51 Mustang?

The P-51 Mustang is an American fighter aircraft designed by North American Aviation and used in World War II. It was designed in 1940 to meet the Royal Air Force's urgent need for additional fighters.
The P-51 Mustang is able to perform well even at low altitude thanks to its aerodynamic finesse, its Allison V-1710 engine and its low-tech turbocharging system. This limits its use as an air superiority fighter. 

Which version and characteristics of the P-51 to choose?

The NORTH AMERICAN P-51B MUSTANG was developed with a breathtaking prototype performance and a top speed at 9,000 meters of 713 km/h, one hundred more than a Mustang with an Allison engine. After the U.S. Army placed an order, production created nearly identical Mustangs under the name NA-103 or P-51C.
The P-51D/K MUSTANG will delight you with its size and performance. It is the result of an arrangement with the army to try the modification with a P-51B.
