What is the Vought F4U Corsair? 

The Vought F4U Corsair is an American aircraft that appeared during the Second World War in 1968. It was mainly used in the Pacific, within the US Navy and the US Marine Corps Aviation.
The name "Corsair" comes from the name of the Vought O2U Corsair, a biplane designed in the 1920's. It was feared by the Japanese enemy who nicknamed it the Whispering Death.
The Corsair was mainly deployed during the Pacific campaigns against the Imperial Japanese Army in 1943. In April 1945, three hundred and five examples of the Corsair Vought F4U were deployed in the Battle of Okinawa.
