What is the Eurofighter TYPHOON?

The Eurofighter TYPHOON is a twin-engine, multi-role fighter aircraft designed with delta wings and a canard design. This design project was initiated by the GmbH consortium of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain, which received the first models of the series in 2004.

In December 1983, talks to define a European multi-role aircraft began between the French, German, Italian, Spanish and British staffs. However, certain differences between France (which preferred a lighter aircraft) and the other countries, which wanted a fighter designed for air superiority (in the context of the Cold War) appeared. Thus the French government withdrew from the program in July 1985 to develop its own project, which became the Dassault Rafale.
The Eurofighter has : 

  • an AIS (Attack and Identification System)
  • a third-generation Captor radar
  • a Pirate system
  • a DASS (Defensive Aids Sub System)

 

These aircraft have very limited air-to-ground and air-to-air capabilities. 284 aircraft were produced under the name Tranche 2 in 2008. Tranche 3 included 260 aircraft, but was divided into two parts for budgetary reasons. Tranche 3A was ordered in 2009 with 112 units.

What are the variants of the Eurofighter TYPHOON?

The Eurofighter TYPHOON is available as a single-seat C-16 or two-seat CE-16.
The Eurofighter TYPHOON NO.29 SQUADRON will delight you with its simplicity and its single-seater. The N.29 Squadron was the second British squadron to receive the Eurofighter Typhoon. The aircraft is built with advanced materials to provide a low radar profile and a solid airframe. Only 15 percent of the aircraft's surface is metal, providing stealthy operation and protection from radar systems.
The EF-2000 TYPHOON BIPLACE features an aerodynamic design characterized by its delta and canard wing. Its two afterburner turbojets provide excellent performance. In addition, the technology of the high card, reinforced by the control of the fly-by-wire system, allows it to obtain a great maneuverability in aerial combat.
