The Supermarine Spitfire is considered one of the most famous combat aircraft in aviation history and an "icon" of British aircraft production. This well-armed, low-wing, single-engine aircraft formed, along with the Hawker Hurricane, the backbone of the Royal Air Force against the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. The Spitfire's success in this battle helped cement its status as an iconic aircraft. It was characterized by its elliptical wings and its powerful Rolls Royce Merlin engine.

To counter the Focke Wulf Fw 190, the Spitfire constantly evolved in its aerodynamic configuration and its engine. The Spitfire Mk. IX was able to compete on equal terms with the most advanced German fighters of the day and was produced in sufficient numbers to meet operational requirements. Apart from the RAF it was used by many air forces during and after WWII including Israel and France.

Scale : 1:48
The 1:48 scale is the queen size scale for model planes. Military models are also available in this scale. A model that is 1:48 scale is 48 times smaller than the real object. For example, a model airplane in the 1:48 scale measures 13 inches / 31.25 cm long if the real object is 15 m (1500 cm).
