Founded in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, Jaguar quickly became famous for its stylish, high-performance cars. Jaguar's history dates back to the 1920s, when the Swallow Sidecar Company was founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley in Blackpool, England. In the 1930s, the company began producing its own cars under the name SS Cars Ltd, with models such as the SS Jaguar. After the Second World War, the company was renamed Jaguar Cars Ltd to avoid any association with the Nazi SS. The brand has also enjoyed considerable success in competition, taking victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and other prestigious races. Today, Jaguar continues to build world-renowned luxury and sports cars, and is renowned for its elegant design, advanced engineering and exceptional performance.
